Rajasthan is the largest state of India geographically. The western part of Rajasthan is a desert with shifting sand-dunes and moon-lit cool nights. The eastern half of the state is fertile agriculturally and economically, more prosperous.

The Rich Rajpoot-history of Rajasthan has given to this state a large number of forts, palaces, lakes, animal-reserves, Havelis, paintings, sculptures, and architectural wonders. Rajasthan has a rich heritage of arts, visual as well as auditory, fairs and festivals, customs and traditions, food and drinks, and whatnot. The state capital, Jaipur, has a rich history behind it. The Kachchawa Rajput clan ruled over Amer and this family contributed a large number of palaces, forts, gardens, lakes, and architecturally and sculpturally worth seeing temples. The Amer Fort, the Nahar Garh Fort, the Hawa Mahal, the City Palace, the Jantar-Mantar, and the Albert Museum remind a tourist of the rich, unparalleled taste and history of its rulers.
Similarly, Alwar was once a part of Matsya Desh and is believed to be one of the oldest kingdoms of this state. Some of the worth visiting places of Alwar are Bala Quila, located on a 300-meter cliff, providing a beautiful view of the city below; Siliserh, a famous summer-resort and picnic spot; Sariska, Alwar's wild-life sanctuary with a good population of sambhar, nilgai, chinkara, chital, leopard and tiger and birds of many types and colors. Deeg, near Bharatpur, is known for its palaces and gardens.
Ranthambhor near Sawai Madhopur is a national park. It is famous for its tigers. Ajmer and Puskar are famous for their religious places. Kota, Bundi, and Jhalawar are famous for palaces, forts, and paintings. Shekhawati region of Rajasthan is famous for paintings, Havelis, arts, and crafts. Jodhpur and Bikaner have a large number of forts and palaces. Udaipur with its lakes and palaces has a great attraction for the tourists. Chittorgarh is central to Mewar history and is famous for its fort and buildings. Thus, we see that Rajasthan is a tourist's paradise.
